If you're not repeating a year you are eligible for a grant.

I assume since you're too young to get BTEA then you're under 23? If so you need to have your parents income assessed by your local VEC and they will determine what you get. I suggest you get a copy of the application form from them and get going on the paper work.

    You'll need your parent(s)/guardian(s)
    p21,
    p60(or p45),
    your birth cert,
proof of address (i.e. a bill addressed to the home),
a letter from the college saying you have been accepted into second year,
a social welfare statement stating what you were in getting each week

and possibly some other documents if they are applicable to your family but most only need the above paper work.

have a look at www.studentfinance.ie - the vec won't send you the form - you have to print it off yourself

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

They will depending on the VEC. I've had mine posted to me for several years. As soon as I was finished my previous year I called or popped in to the VEC and asked them for the form ahead of time. As soon as the forms were available they were sent to my address but at this point in time it would be more efficient if you could go to your VEC and ask for it.
