Getting married next year and want to get a band who are a bit left of centre than your average wedding band.

Maybe a band who can offer any of the following:
    Ska
    Funk
    Electro

We have no interest in hearing covers of Joe Dolan, Neil Diamond or Tom Jones.

    any recommendations?

    :D

I dj at weddings with Beatclub regularly and they cover a wide variety of music. Checkout their playlists on their website.

Another thumbs up for the BeatClub here. They played my wedding last year and were great. Filled the dancefloor. Ska stuff was great and they're really sound lads to deal with and ultra professional. Worth every penny.

I like what you are saying but most of the time bands that don't play the usual wedding stuff go down very bad at weddings. Empty floor means a bad party. There is an art to playing weddings.

These lads played my brother's wedding a few weeks back. Best wedding band I've ever seen.

I agree there is an art but people who book Beatclub are looking for a specific
level of musicianship and the classic cover's like bowie/beatles/doors/stones/kinks
stuff along with depeche mode/smiths/cure/stone roses/pixies/kraftwerk/clash/
jam/madness and other 80s classics. You won't be hearing recent songs like sex
on fire or mr brightside or more obscure stuff (but you can always get the dj to
    play them :D)
