Reduced mileage weeks and 10% Rule

    Hi,

I'm trying to increase my weekly mileage according to 10% rule (i.e. don't increase mileage by more than 10% week-on-week) but am a bit confused about how this fits in around "reduced mileage weeks".

For instance, say after three weeks of increasing mileage the next week is at about 50-75% of standard mileage. After this week what distance should be run? Should it be about the same as the week before the reduced mileage week? or should it be a 10% increase on that week's mileage?

    This might make it clearer:
    wk1: 33mi
    wk2: 36.3mi
    wk3: ~40mi
    wk4: 20-30mi
    wk5: 40mi or 44mi?

    Any feedback would be great!

It steps up from the previous (pre- step back) week. So in your example 44m. At least it does if you follow the mainstream programmes, St Hal of Higdon etc.
