Ok there is a thread somewhere with a the tale of woe of the iPhone 4 I got from 3.

Just had my iPhone 4 replaced, but getting a brand new issue.

I went through the activation process, no problem, had started using the phone when the following message popped up:

"Restore Needed iPhone cannot make or receive calls. Restore from iTunes. www.apple.com/support"

The phone then went dead, and the apple logo would appear on screen, disappear, then reappear, and constantly cycle through this.

On top of this the phone itself is no longer being detected in iTunes. tried this on both my mac and my wifes windows machine, neither is detecting it.

    Suggestions please?

You can start the phone in disk node to connect it to iTunes. Hold down the menu button when connecting to iTunes. It does sound though that your best bet is to get another replacement phone... probably not what you wanted to hear though.
