Sub thread for 'wanted' ads?

How would people feel about mods starting a sub thread in the adverts section for wanted ads? it might encourage people to read what is actually for sale before posting a wanted ad and people who post ads will have their ad remain on the first page longer as it will not be bumped by wanted ads.
    just a thought :D

There's too many sub-forums already I think, better keeping all the adverts in one place anyway as people will undoubtedly get confused and post in the wrong place causing more hassle.

I can see your point about there being a lot of subforums but it would be hard to confuse 'wanted' and 'for sale'
does anyone know how to put something like this to a vote? (i'm really bored this evening) :D

You'd think that but people post adverts in the main forum even after they've scrolled past the adverts sub forum so I wouldn't put anything past some users.

i know what you mean :D but lets not start pointing fingers, would like to see what everyone else thinks before the inevitable lock.

I think the Airsoft Adverts section is quite sufficient. People tend to tag their threads with [WANTED], [FOR SALE] or [TRADE] in general anyway so you can usually see what is what before clicking on it.

i guess the only advantage i am going for is to keep the adverts forum for being cluttered with requests when 5 minutes browsing would yield several items which would suit this person eg: aeg wanted, or sniper rifle wanted, there are at least ten of each type on the go at any given time.
    Anyone agree with me?

Have to agree once people put wanted above the post it's fine, have to say though I've always wondered why you see some with a wanted post for example "Looking for an L96" and two posts below it one for sale and all together around 3 or 4 for sale on the first page.

Thank you Danin, thats exactly what i am getting at.

That's not the fault of the present format for the forum though, it's the people who make the threads that need to smarten up.

This will also lead people being lazy. Instead of looking in the Adverts thread, they will automaticcaly start a new one in the Wanted section.

It will also end up with too many silly requests of simple things people can find in any airsoft shop for the same price, lile BB's, gas, hoop up rubber etc.

Like what has already been aid, there are enough sub forums as it is

    2 for 3 against, it'll be a close race!!!

Being honest i dont think it will work as the lads say above it will get confusing and we have to many sub forums as it is. just my opinion.

Do mods count as one vote or as many as they want???

Ok Ok i'll say it if no-one else will...

Speaking as the original moderator for airsoft adverts; there's a stipulation in the rules (if anybody bothered to read them) about marking threads as either [Wanted] or [For Sale], to remove any ambiguity on what a thread is for.

As has already been said; there are already a lot of sub-fora for airsoft on boards.ie; and removing wanted ads from the main sale section would remove a lot of traffic that would otherwise see said adverts. The only people who would also really frequent the 'wanted' section would be those looking for kit; others might occasionally wander in but that brings us back to the topic of traffic - or reduced volume therein.

The existing adverts forum works as is just fine; I think that people just need to be reminded about the thread prefixs again to tidy things up a bit.

There's no problem with the current set up. If someone posts a wanted ad for an item that's already advertised on the same page, it doesn't always mean that person hasn't bothered their posterior to read the whole page. The poster may have unsuccessfuly tried to purchase said item, the item may have already been sold, or it may be of a type that the poster doesn't want.
For example of the latter, taking the mention earlier of an L96 is a subject, the poster may want a bog standard Well L96, where the L96 advertised may be a Maruzen or G&G gas version, or the TM spring version. It may even be the Well version, but is incorrrectly labelled and the pictures show it to be an AW338.

The system, as it stands, is as good as it can be made. Short of having someone in a live IRC waiting to guide you to the nearest valid post, there's nothing more that can be done to streamline it.
The prefixes would be nice though, if people bothered said aft-quarters to take the few extra key strokes to put it in.

It'll never be an online shopping experience for the very reason that the kit for sale/trade/wanted is user-driven rather than whatever a retailer can source and in that respect; it'll never be "clean" so to speak. There'll always be clutter on airsoft adverts as long as there are users using it (which isn't a bad thing).

Wouldn't be a bad idea to mention it to the admins as a boards.ie dev request, that when a new thread gets created in adverts; the user is forced to select either from a list of 'For Sale' or 'Wanted' or 'For Trade' (maybe) that will auto-affix the prefix onto the subject line.

Also to answer your question mods when not typing in Bold= normal poster, mod using Bold=mod
Hope it clears it up :)

This sounds like a better idea idea.

It'd be a request; the admins may feel that the boards.ie dev team have too much on their plate and the request would simply float in limbo if not outright rejected.

Personally I don't see why it would be rejected - pushed into limbo on a long list of "todo" is quite possible though.

Have to chuckle sometimes where you see people with wanted threads oblivious to the fact someone is already selling what they are looking for! :)

I'd like to see 'want to buy' and 'want to sell' subforums, mainly because it will be a lot easier to see what's what. I don't like scrolling through 4-5 pages of 'want to buy' ads just to see what people have for sale. I don't think it would cause much problems and would make it easier for both buyers and sellers.

All it Takes is 2 simple words

    For sale

    Wanted

if we have 2 separate forums people will still post in the wrong ones and on the main forum

How would going through three pages in two seperate fora be any different to six pages in one forum?

Guys, Lemming had the most valuable point...and it's largely being ignored.

If you sepearte the fora you greatly reduce the traffic, which means you're much less likely to sell or purchase the item that you want. The best plausible solution is to pre-affix the tags Wanted or For Sale automatically
