GAME are giving €140 cash (€160 trade I think it was) for 40gb ps3 consoles, pretty good imo

I'm half-considering doing this and getting a slim instead, serious pain in the hole having no media on it and having to constantly delete game data just to install new ones. Saying that I do stream a lot of stuff through it but still! The slim looks way nicer too.

it was on a sign right at the entranceto the Ilac centre store, and it was an official printed one (not like the gamestop handwritten), so assume it's nationwide

You would probably get more for a 60GB original on adverts due to backwards compatability.

think they were €160 cash, €180 trade-in, but as already mentioned, you might get more on adverts.ie

My local one its €150/€130 depending on if you want to trade in or just take the cash . I couldnt do it as the sticker was removed from my PS3 when I replaced the blue ray :mad:

I thought I would get abit more due to being able to play ps2 games etc (which I never play)...no game near me though so asked in gamestop,got told I would get €75 cash or €110 credit,lol.

Was hoping to upgrade to a 250gb slim,don't know about my save data though,sure there's a way to backup on a usb ?

Anyway,I'll have to check somewhere else next.

If you only want a bigger HDD, you can install one yourself.

If the USB has enough memory then yes. You could also back up to an ipod(I did).

I misread the sign, it is actually €130 cash they're giving for a 40gb, maybe a mod can edit the title.
here's a full rundown of the trade-in/cash values for the ps3

250gb slim: 250 credit, 230 cash
120gb slim: 210 credit, 190 cash
60gb/80gb: 160 credit, 140 cash
40gb: 150 credit, 130 cash

I checked in Game in Liffey Valley and the sales guy would only offer me 150 for my 60 gig, which was a bit on the low side for me
