I've searched up and looked at several threads on boards.ie about usit and the visa. I see some people say its a rip off and there are alternatives etc.
... does anyone know the alernatives?

as for what i've read on the visa programe on usit. It costs €419 euro.
I was just wondering, is there an deposit fee? or do I have to pay the 419 in full?

Sorry if they are stupid questions. Just trying to get the answers and not really popping at me when I read the site :)

You pay the full €419 immediately and you must pay for your flights and insurance about 6-8 weeks later.

The U35 visa is the only working holiday visa.. that lets you support your travels by working. You don't need any work lined up (in fact, you're not meant to have a job lined up), you simply arrive over there and start job hunting. So it is fairly flexible.

Is it a ripoff? Well, maybe a bit. The €419 includes €100 or so for the work permit and the rest is usit's fee for administering the programme (including the induction). However, usit are the only company who can provide this visa for Ireland and you cannot bypass them.

    insurance €200 on http://www.backpackertravelinsurance.ie/
flights.. €500-650 to toronto - more at peak times. I'm going with air canada. The main reason I chose them over BA and aer lingus is the alternatives charge a lot more to change your return date and are probably more likely to ruin your travel plans though industrial action.

USIT tried to make my brother book flights and insurance with them and quoted him €1300. He booked them himself and got them for €700

I booked mine with Usit for €990 which at the time was the cheapest I could get with anybody for the dates I wanted and location (thats flights, 1 date change for when I'm coming back & insurance). The insurance was a bit better than the other guys too (e.g. full year winter sports rather than one month).

2 months to go. Can't bleedin wait.
