If it's purely content, and you're not bothered by HD, then UPC do Setanta Ireland and ESPN as part of the basic (non-premium) packages, so you just add sky sports. Sky charge extra for ESPN, on top of sky sports, and you also have to pay even further to get any setanta channels.

If you want HD though, then the only way to get Sky Sports in HD, is from sky.

UPC as chorus/ntl are now known have Setanta Ireland as part of basic package BUT if the live football is on Setanta 1 you have to pay 16.99 p.m for the extra channel.
Imo Sky is the best option especially for HD and interactive services plus if you have Sky Sports on satellite you get free coverage via SkyPlayer until the end of the year.
    Sky Sports showing 115 live games,ESPN 23 live games,Setanta 45 live games.
Or try a foreign sub-Sky Italia have a great package for Premier League and more http://www.sky.it/abbonarsi/promozioni/index.shtml

I wouldnt be bothered about hd.How much would basic cost me per month with sky sports with UPC?Am I right in saying that with sky satellite I could get 2 packages for 25e and sky sports package 19e per month giving a total 44e per month or am I missing something.

The games Zerks is talking about are English PL games. ESPN will have German, Italian, Dutch & Russian league & Cup games. Sky will also have a scattering of Scottish plus of course La Liga, which will feature games with starting times ranging from 5pm to 9pm at week-ends. BBC will be showing a minimum of 10 lower league games this coming season plus a range of FA cup games in the Spring.

Sky Sports is going up by €3 per month from 1st Sept. The cheapest package from UPC is 24.75. Sky Sports will bring the cost per month to €57.75.

My bad, meant to state the 115 are Prem Lge games-For an overall package,Sky Sports is hard to beat as the op wants soccer, rugby and golf which Sky show lots of,not sure about the NBA but assume they're not showing it or we'd be seeing lots of ads for it.
Once you go into premium channel territory theres no real difference in price between providers but the Sky+ is a lot better than the UPC one.
Question-Do UPC provide the multi match option for Champions League games in the way Sky do?

At the moment a Sky+HD box without HD sub is 49 euro and 30 euro install. If you take the HD sub the box is free. You also get 1st month free when you take Sky Sports.
