Hi i got an airport extreme a few weeks ago and have had a few problems with the setup.

First is it keeps asking me about bridging the internet connection and it having trouble with the ip address's... ive tried different settings and searched the web but no joy....

The 2nd is the 5ghz channel..... it dosent display all the time.. it will show up for about half a hour i get really good internet speeds and then it vanishes... im not far from router its upstairs and my mac mini/xbox360 is downstairs..
The settings i have at the moment are 100% power, wide channels and location as Ireland ive been changing settings with no joy....

And its wired to a bt voyager modem with the wireless turned off
And its the current gen airport if that makes a difference

    Thanks

    Is the BT modem bridged?

The basics are that you bridge the modem and set up the APX to connect over PPPoE, or you set up the modem to connect and just set up the APX to connect using Ethernet.

IP addresses: If the modem is bridged, you set up the APX to be the DHCP server ("Share a public IP address" is the setting), or if the modem is doing the connecting and DHCP IP addressing tasks, the set the APX to "Off (bridged mode)".
