Judder/Twitching Problems with a car

Hey so we bought a ford mondeo 03 1.8 Zetec Petrol a good few months ago...so we hit a few problems and the garage fixed them...but a problem that has been with us since the start...

this was twitching and judder when accelerating... now this happens completely randomly (but more often when theres alot of people in the car)...usually just after switching a gear...now i know the car goes into laibor if the gear was changed and revs too low but it grunts and growls for a bit and caries on eventualy.

Went to garage they took the car for a week (for testing of the problem they cant find) and said it was fine...but its not i went to dublin there with the family the day i gave the car to them and the engine started shaking and virbrating alot when stopping and had to rev it to stop it but it got back to it again...so when got back on the motorway and accelerating even past 2k rpms and on it still juddered in every gear.

So they rang me today and told me theres no problem...i went to a diff garage and they said it might be a problem with the intake throttle body...

So i dont know what to do...

Going through courts to get the money is kind of a last option. We like that car just want the juddering to stop...

so how can i prove them or show them whats wrong with it...

the mechanic kept thinking that it was something with the sparks ignition system so he changed the HTC leads and sparkplugs...but the problem still there

PS sorry for the long post...just fed up of having so many problems with the car

    HELP!!!

These engines give trouble with ignition coil packs religiously.
Have a competent mechanic carry out a diagnostic scan. Usually cylinder specific misfire codes will be resistered if this is the case.
Even though the sticker says no, clean out throttle body with carb cleaner, this usally manifests itself as a problem at idle.
Check vacuum pipe to MAP sensor for splits or signs of internal collapse.
First get a diagnostic scan made.

well were going soon up to galway to put it up on diagnostics...

well i asked them to clean up the throttle body and they said they did...

the problem was that this SIMI garage was meant to do it...

i went down to other garage on the same day and a few things that they were meant to sort out werent even touched...

so i dont know did they clean it or not...

I know this is always mentioned but could be down to a dodgy MAF. Had a corsa that would judder and loose power when driving and engine light would come on under hard acceleration. Changed the MAF and its all sorted.

LMAO so after a week of driving the superb suzuki liana (still shivers) got the car back...

but i really laughed out loud now...

so they said they will use the car for a week or go for long drives to find a the twitching...

so they changed the coil pack and plugs before going to sligo...how smart was that...

asked them to write out a document stating what they did too since we bought the car... and they said on it they took it for a 425 mile journey...even though the speedo only said around half of that

the next garage you bring it to ask them to check the fuel pressure under driving conditions with a loaded back seat. if the fuel filter is partially blocked it CAN manifest this type of concern when the vehicle is loaded with passengers. when you say growling does the engine ACTUALLY missfire or is it a hesitation. i've seen it too many times with fords with similar problems the fuel filter hasn't been changed before, i cant emphasize enough how important it is to have the fuel filter replaced at its interval.if the filter doesnt show up to be the cause you could be looking at possibly a fuel pump problem or a CAT, again both give problems. just on the manifold, have a look down the right rear of the manifold, give the engine a good rev you should see a little arm move up, if not moving, a vaccum issue. sorry that was a bit long

well they said they were gonna replace the inlet manifold...but when i went to pick it up they said that they modified the buttefly valve...

i really wouldnt have a 100% sure opinion whether its misfiring or stuggling...

it just shakes alot and the revs start jumping below 900 rpms...

    thanks

currently talking to SIMI customer care rep for dealing this...

apparently as i got a copy of the letter from simi of their reply to problems "the car is in excellent condition"

thanks rugalo ill be sure to mention this to the mechanic...
