So very possibly a new iPhone (more like an iPhone 4.1) by late December??

New iPad to be released Q1 next year.

    And upgraded AppleTV.

Those are rumors, not fact - Digitimes in particular has been wrong on numerous occasions, I'd take anything they say with a bucket of salt.

FWIW, I very much doubt either a new iPhone or another iPad (certainly not a smaller one) will show up outside of their annual release cycles, hugely unlikely for Apple.

The Apple TV hasn't been upgraded in ages so it's way overdue for one, that could indeed happen.

Is there any point in us buying Apple products with the rate of Turn over these days??

You could say that for pretty much any computer peripheral/consumer electronics device. Look how fast CPUs or graphics cards are outdated for example.

I'd be very surprised if Apple introduced any major iPhone upgrades outside of cycle.

However, given that Verizon's network is inaccessible to Apple, it would make sense that they would make a play for the largest mobile network in North America.

Because they would have to replace the GSM chip with the CDMA chip, I imagine that these will be very specific phones - the iPhone 4C or something - which is otherwise functionally identical to the iPhone 4 but worthless outside of the USA, China and one or two other countries.
All they'd really have to do is release a software update at the time so that all phones are running the same iOS (which adds in the CDMA networking layer on top of the GSM & 802.11 ones) and it's not a new phone mid-cycle.

The iPhone 5 will probably be dual GSM/CDMA but given the size of the network and the speed at which Android-based handsets are taking hold, Apple might be considering getting their foot in the door early.

But still, definitely not going to be an upgraded iPhone mid-cycle.

Next step for the iPad is quadrupling the pixel density on the screen and providing serious peripheral support over bluetooth or wifi. Can't see them releasing a 7" screen - they may as well just release a big iPhone, all joking aside.
