I'm looking at a few cars with this engine fitted - 2004-2005 vintage Civics and Astras for a mate.
Do these engines give any trouble?

Is the PSA 1.6 diesel found in the Focus a better alternative? An issues with turbos or DMFs etc?

The Isuzu CDTi is an ok engine, and as far as I am aware, the ones fitted to the Astra G and the Civic do not have a DPF's or DMF's.

In the Ford installations of their 1.6TDCi, most are fitted with DMF's but these tend to be more reliable than most, especially those used in the Mondeo. The 1.6 comes in two versions: a 90bhp and a 110bhp. The latter are usually fitted with a DPF too.
