Board members might be aware of the current trial of Charles Taylor (ex-African warlord). Part of the trial centrers around blood diamonds.

As such, Naoimi Campbell has been called to give evidence and is doing do (after some ridiculous personal demands).
She has stated that (short version) a number of men turned up at her door in the middle of the night and gave her a bag of "dirty looking diamonds" but she didn't know whom they were from whatsoever.
    * Note: hours earlier she was with Charles Taylor for dinner and an evenings entertainment, he being the well known the blood diamond kind of Africa.

Mia Farrow and Carole White who was also there, says different. They state for the international court record that Miss Campbell knew exactly whom the diamonds were from and Naomi actually stated it to them soon afterwards.

So as a jury member if you were one, who would you believe?

    Think of it this way....

What reason does Mia Farrow and Carole White have to lie?

do they benefit at all from the trial outcome? Do they have a personal vendetta agains naomi Cambell?

Plus we've seen in the past just HOW impulsive Naomi Cambell can be!....

I know. Either way, someone is lying to an international court or justice.
Who ever that is, I think is, by their untruths, an international disgrace.

And a morale disgrace. Considering the amount of people who were murdered and mutilated for the recovery of these diamonds.

I know we see celebrities as self indulgent arses, but this is a whole different level!

She seems to have had a long history of telling stories, and getting found out afterwards, but this time she's excelled herself..

all she cares about is money and her appearance, she doens't care if someone doesnt go down as long as her rep is safe...

IMHO she lied through her teeth. As Mink Man says her concern is money & how to mint it.

I saw some of Ms Campbell's testimony and was of the opinion that she had been carefully coached beforehand.

I thought that Ms Farrow & Ms White were more natural and should not have had to tolerate the method of questioning used by the defence solicitor. Could it be called 'questioning'? Most of the time he would make a statement and then suggest the answer he wanted, and if the answer displeased him he would try forcing an answer.

Madam chairperson judge (or whatever she's called) should have issued umpteen warnings; but I'm not a legal expert and maybe the Hague War Crimes courts don't have to abide by convention.

    [Just my own, unqualified thoughts.]

I think Mia Farrow is an upstanding citizen with a lot of integrity. I can't see her lying in court at all.

I thought there was a certain catty element to what Mia Farrow said though... that "even before she sat down at the table" Naomi was effectively bragging that she had been given jewelery in the middle of the night..

How somebody could attend a dinner with Charles Taylor, and not have any idea who he is i don't know...but i guess her comments about only ever seeing polished diamonds point to the type of world she lives in.

On some level, i'm wondering if part of this is just a media hatchet job on Campbell........ on the other hand i'm inclined to think her reputation as an absolute b!tch is well earned.

She don't need any further help from the media, she is her own worst enemy.
Between the way she treats others, her greed, her vainness, her temper tantrums and those who end up suffering from them, her outrageous demands and on and on and on...

She deserves nothing but ...well frankly nothing!
She comes totally across as one disgusting cow. Inside and out.

As the saying goes and I apologise for being so crude in words "I wouldn't piss on her, even if she was on fire!"

    ^^
A friend of mine (cabin crew) had her on a flight & she really is a despicable person..demanding rules be changed for her & treating the crew like crap. Not answering when being offered food/drink & raising her eyes to heaven a lot.

Nice to see Mandela the terrorist and his Murdering wife in such good company.

I assume the prosecution have more compelling evidence than the glorified "she says, she says" routine. Because even if Campbell is found to be lying then all Taylor is guilty of is trying to get into her pants! It's a bit of a reach to claim that this behaviour means he used the diamonds for weapons. What other evidence do they have?

it seems sadly ironic that this bitch has been celebrated for at least two decades, as being the worlds most beautiful woman. when in actual fact, she's easily the ugliest person in modern media!! what's that say about the people who buy her magazines etc etc. why dont the agencies boycott her for being associated with traffic of blood diamonds???

to quote paulie wallnuts from the Sopranos "She's a milignant cu*t"!!

Naomi Campbell isn't the one on trial here, Charles Taylor is. If she's central to a prosecution on charges of such a scale then the prosecution is struggling or showboating.

To be honest, Nelson Mandela's taste in birthday guests leaves a lot to be desired generally since he facilitated the alleged event.

I can't understand the big deal.

Some guy gave her diamonds, big whoop. Her only crime seems to be accepting a gift.

If she knew they were from him and/or that they were "blood diamonds" they are very illegal to have/import and should have been reported to the proper authorities - instead as she says lately, she tried to/did pass them off to a charity!

    Blood diamonds.

If she's lying and she actually kept them then she's a disgrace!! But either way, she should have reported it.

To be fair, the courts are trying to determine whether or not the diamonds were blood diamonds so how he is she to know for sure, she had an inkling that they were dodgy so she passed them on, so fair enough. Not standing up for the sexy psychotic bitch, but she is not the one on trial.

No, she is not the one on trial - however that does not excuse her either from being either completely thick (which is VERY doubtful) or having the gall to lie to an international war crimes court!

    Points:
    A. She had been at a function, sitting with ALL night the man that was internationally known as the "Blood Diamond King".
    B. A few hours later supposedly a bunch of men turn up in the dark and hand her a bag of diamonds - and all of a sudden according to her - she has absolutely no idea where they are from - however years later she does claim that they were given to charity faster than you can say "jack-flash" !
(I wonder what was the rush then to get rid of them IF her version is true)
    - And by the way, this is the first time ever she was given a bag of dirty diamonds in this fashion in the middle of the night, in a bag. So nothing dodgy there either!
    C. At least two others - one questionable but another (Mia) who backs up the first, both say that immediately she got them, she stated to them what they were, whom they were from, etc... Mrs Taylor also stated: "The diamonds were to be brought to the guest-house... Naomi was very excited that the diamonds were about to show up."

The reason for getting them (they came willingly) and her (an international court order had to be issued by the Sierra Leone state to force her to turn up and speak!) into court anyway was to show that the African nutter was very open and blatant about giving away his blood diamonds (besides selling them for arms), which in itself was/is a crime to his many others he stands accused of.

I don't think i disagree with anything you say really. Was he known as the "blood diamond king" at the time? I honestly don't know, i find it hard to believe Mandela would entertain such company with his current image although it did come out in court that Graca Machel was very uncomfortable with his being there.

Campbell did say and i quote "i never heard of Liberia until that night" so either that was genius coaching or she is genuinely thick, which i wouldn't rule out either.

All a bit of a sideshow anyways, but thoroughly entertaining nonetheless. Carole White was all over the place and she does seem to have an agenda of her own with regards to Naomi Campbell. Gutted Sky stopped covering the case once the celebs were done, i was getting into it.

I don't know about her but his 2nd wife, Nomzamo "Winnie" Madikizela, certainly qualifies.

She mentioned a bag whereas Ms White said 'crumpled paper'.
Did she get two 'deliveries', one of which was made semi public, between/during breakfast & train journey, for the benefit of anyone observing?
    The other - I won't hazard a guess.

    Likewise.
I think the defence was about to start and I wanted to see if the defence solicitor continued to give the answer before the question!
