while playing on saturday a member of our group who has recently done some work on his swing continually referred to some videos on his phone to help him set up for shots
he said it was the same as just looking at a course guide and made no big deal of it
after the first 9 holes this was extremely frustrating for all concerned
he went on to win the group on the day
surely this should not be allowed - what next, someone rolls out bob rotella for a few shots?
i'm getting very disillusioned with the game and may retire for a few months

This sounds extremely silly. Moreso cause it's making you think about retiring. Talk about melodramatic.

The guy is trying to better his game and should probably have more understanding friends. It wasn't like it was a competition or anything.

it was a competition between the 4 of us though
for pretty much 80% of his iron shots he took out the bloody thing
keeping focus was pretty much impossible
even my big phil visualisation technique was useless

Do you plan on retiring from both the game and boards?

in order to contribute to boards you need to be informed re the subject
therefore if i'm not playing golf or watching football etc i'm not really in a position to comment

I think your dead right conno, I would've said something to him. A shotsaver is completley different. If he wants to do stuff like that let him go around on his own and not waste your and your friends time.

Did you say anything to him at the end?

Did you get the details of what he was watching?
It was obviously a very good tutorial.

I can appreciate your frustration but I wouldnt be considering quitting over it. Perhaps a bannage of any mobile devices while play is agreed between all parties before the game? I dont like to see mobiles on the golf course or int he restaurant.

    that sounds just plain silly
myself I have a 25" laptop fitted to my remote controlled trolley so I can watch my "how not to hack it" training dvd all they way around

also seeing as it has a webcam when I get to the greens I get my mate Jimmy Joe One Toe to read my putts over the net....he just isn't the same for caddying since the accident in florida with the alligator
he also aligns me off the tee for smashing my 7 iron 250+ down the fairway

Now lately a few off my partners have being trying to bustle me seeing as I regularly break 50 pts so I also might have a little me time with my sports psycholigist Beaker if needs be over the auld skype when required

also if I get held up by anyone in my 9hr round of golf I can come on boards.ie and spout pure and utter tripe as good as the next fella hoping someone will answer me too

Thats easy, you plug it into the power unit in your car and drive around the course. Most courses don't mind just like using their pracitise facilities when you're not a member.
