Quite a few good old racehorses horses in that class. My sister has just shown me pics of Hardy Eustace, Harchibald, War of Attrition and Beef Or Salmon (ridden by Hourigan himself).

Apparently Harchibald was acting the maggot during the class. Surprised? :D

What won it btw? I was gone home then.

War of Attrition won, Hardy was second - I can't remember who was third - it could have been Beef or Salmon.

Even though I'm a big fan of War of Attrition, I was surprised he won it as he reared up when the judge got up on him (though, in fairness, I was waiting for that the whole week as none of the horses in any of the ridden hunter classes seemed to respond well to him).

That was Brave Inca. I believe Harchibald got very hot and bothered and wasn't really enjoying it.

Harchibald was given the gate for misbehaving. Same happened with Paris to Berlin.

He was a real heart-breaker but hes probably my favourite ever.
Backed him in the 2005 Champion and stood in awe at Carberry. I was fairly new to racing and didnt know why he left it so late but the horse had nothing left anyway.
Riddled with injury too but he made up for it for me in the '08 Christmas Hurdle.

It's a bit like supporting Denman, isn't it...both brilliant but injury struck and occasionally (actually frequently) frustrating! But so worth it when they show(ed) their best.
