How to deal with panic attack.

Today I had my first ever panic attack. I was eating lunch with my dad when he started to choke, the 5 minute ordeal had me shivering and shaking for hours!

The thing is, he isn't elderly or anything, in his early 40's, and I am afraid that if I leave him alone it will happen again. Currently I don't want to sleep and I know I shouldn't worry, but is there anything I can do to help calm me?

I don't want to take pills, and I don't want to check in on him every 5 minutes. Hope it isn't too much to ask :S

You should maybe ask in personal issues- probably get more advice there

It's not something for Boards at all really.

    Get medical advice OP.

Ring a friend or family member right away and talk to them.

It seems worse than it is but it's only a panic attack. Please don't worry.

And tomorrow you should talk to a doctor ok?

Go to the doctor. Never ask for medical advice on-line. It will most likely be misleading.

If you can't sleep, maybe try some herbal tea or something-might help.
Hopefully it was just the shock of it happening and you'll be ok tomorrow, but if things don't improve,do go see your doctor.

Yeah OP, dont worry too much.

He doesn't eat sandwiches all night long does he? If not then you probably have nothing to worry about.

Talk to a doctor in the morning.

OP, take the advice of the above and get your dad to see a doctor if you're concerned about him.

Then you'll be able to sleep.:)
