Hi all, bought a shirt dress similar to this last year.(xmas 2009) However it is a bit longer and it has a tie. It is mainly purple pink and a little grey going through it. There is no white in the dress.Have an 80th coming up and was wondering how to wear it. Usually just wear with it black leggings and boots.

Was thinking get rid of the tie and maybe a big purple belt but not sure if that would be over kill.

    Any help welcome:)
    Thanks

You could wear leggings and heels instead of boots, and maybe a belt to match shoes?

I've got a similar style shirt dress, although it's a plain colour rather than what you've described, and it's a little longer.

If I want to dress it up, I wear a belt (I got it very cheaply in a sale because there was no tie with it) and matching shoes, either flats or heels, depending on the occasion. I'll also dress it up with some jewellery - a necklace and bracelets. Again, size will depend on occasion, but if it's evening you could get away with some 'bling' if you wanted to!

I'll also pair it with a suitable jacket and bag, although these will depend on whether I wear it for day/evening/casual/more formal.

It really is amazing how versatile a shirt dress is, and I'm always complimented any time I wear it, be it casually or more dressy! My advice would be to play around with different colours and see what works best for you. You could always wear it when shopping and try on lots of different accessories with it. That way you could see what suited it best without having to buy something you're not sure will work well.
