Had you the aerial vertical or horizontal.

Truskmore is C/D horizontal, data and pics of aerial here.

as much of Ballina is down in a hole there may be a spot of bother. Have you ever had TV3 analogue ?? How ??

neighbours about 50 ft away have this aerial pointing towards truskmore but by looking at there aerials they seem to have a booster or something

Them aerials are useless if your not in an area with strong coverage, very poor quality too. There's no point amplifying a low quality signal, you only need an amplifier if your powering a few televisions from the one aerial or if your aerial is far from television.

Is yours at the same height etc????

As previous poster said, an amp won't improve the initial picture you can receive, it will only combat losses in long cable runs and small distribution systems

yep aerial will be at same height, but will be running it about 25meter to tv point, i take it i should be getting a strong enough signal on roof so, i will try again in a day or so

get a good amp and PSU for that length cable I'd say. Try setting up the aerial first with a TV nearer to the aerial to see if you can get good reception.

Then you'll know if you need amp or not for the permanent TV position

got myself an masthead amplifier and power , set it up in attic and signal has increased alot, plugged the aerial into my combo box and hey presto , channels perfect on dtt, happy days here
