Nope...unspecified time limit. If I were close I'd definitely avail of the offer. They also sell the cleaning kits, should you wish to do it yourself.

Jim was the guy who did the cleaning but over the last couple of days I spoke to Alan and Darragh who were also very helpful.

Myself and another boardsie popped out to DML yesterday to get two cameras sorted and have to say the lads were absolutely A1. Cleaned both cameras, showed us how to do it ourselves and weren't at all trying to sell. Top service and would totally recommend them to anyone who hires equipment or simply to get a free sensor clean!

They also said that they run tutorials/studio workshops regularly and will be starting them up again soon - think one on studio lighting is coming up next. Everyone welcome! Sound guys, great service and coffee if you want it :)

Ive just dropped in to these guys today and the man in there was really nice to deal with. got my sensor cleaned and he told me how they do it and he even cleaned my lense up for me!

I felt bad going in there to just ask for a sensor clean but he was very knowledgable in any other questions i had for him about lenses and was very pleasant to deal with, would definately recommend them for any queries.

What kind of turn around do they go? Clean it there and then, or drop off and pick up the next day? I'm going to be up in Dublin twice next week, and my 5D for sure could do with a good clean.

    There and then! :)

takes 3 minutes if not less!!

Is there anywhere in Dublin City center that offers it for free? (probably not)

Otherwise I'll be calling into them this weekend when I'm over in Dublin. I'd prefer not to have to detour but obbviously will if nowhere else does it.
What kind of price do places normally charge?
    I can spot some dirt-

Only ever had it done in Maher's chemist in Drogheda. Did it twice. First time took about half an hour and cost €30. The second time I dropped it down at about 5pm, and was told I could get it the following day.

They gave me the run-around for hours and eventually got it back to me with a cost of €40.

It certainly seems a great service for free! If I were nearby I'd avail of it myself, even though I've found DML to be less than stellar in the past when it came to Metz queries (though the guys are still very nice, all the same).

Just been in to DML. After making a balls of cleaning my sensor last night with a crappy old dusty blower brush they sorted me out (my sensor is gleaming) and showed me how to clean it myself in the future.

No hard sell, but I did pick up a box of Visible Dust swabs and a proper blower (for a tenner - bargain!)

Didn't get the name of the guy who sorted me out, but it's nice to see service like that.

The clean was free. I'd feel guilty about turning up and asking for a freebie, so I bought some swabs (€18) and a blower (€10).

1st. Off sorry to the mods for digging up a zombie thread

Does anybody know if this offer is still going on? Managed to get alot(!) of crap in my sensor and viewfinder and needs a professional clean!

Another boardsie from Carlow managed to get a lot of it out using a blower and brush earlier today but there is still some stubborn artefacts remaining in place.. :(

    looks like it is.

    whats the difference between a dry clean(free) and a wet clean(€20) ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,988 ✭✭✭dirtyghettokid

i rang them a few months ago. they only do "free" wet cleaning if you buy a cleaning kit off them for €20. so it's not really free....but it is ... kinda....:p
