How to Shrink a Hoody? (on purpose!)

I recently got a hoody that is one size too large, its a Large and I want a Medium. So I want to shrink it down one size. I can't exchange it because it's a customized club hoody.
I've heard that na very hot wash, followed by a hot spin in the dryer should shrink it, can anyone tell me if this will work or is there any other method?

    Thanks

I accidentally shrunk a big hoody by sticking it in the dryer on a high heat. I don't know how well you'd be able to control shrinkage though. :)

How many sizes did it shrink?

it depends on what fabric its made from-check the label if its cotton or mainly cotton and it doesnt say "preshrunk" then stick it on the hottest wash you have and before putting it into the tumble dryer check how much it has shrunk first!!

Also if there is any print on the hoodie it could be cracked by the high heat!!

I usually do this aswell! My fella gives me his nice hoodies when he goes to get new ones so I stick it in the dryer on it's own and put it to the highest heat, I then keep checking on it every half hour. That does the job for me.

That's exactly what I did! My boyfriend gave it to me and it was huuuuuge! Didn't actually intend to shrink it, but it worked out fine. :)

A long hot cycle in the dryer is the best method for shrinking clothes. I did it to a pair of jeans once (unintentionally). I've done it once or twice since - this time intentionally! - and it worked out fine.

How much it shrinks will depend on the material and quality of the hoody, though.

Well its a new hoody, made from 80% cotton, with printing on the front. I think i might give it a cycle in the dryer without washing it first and i'll see how that goes.

It probably won't shrink much if it's dry. As far as I know, it needs to be wet to shrink.

Well I tried it dry forst and it shrank a small bit, so then i wet it with cold water and put it in the dryer again and it made no difference... any suggestions?
