How do you move a row in that yoke?

I can do it in a few minutes. Didn't figure it out myself though. I learned some moves from my uncle and some from a mate years ago.

I learned how to do a rubik's cube last October or thereabout because I always wanted to know how to do one.

The best four days of my life learning that thing, and now it sticks with me. :D I can get it done in about 2-3 minutes. It's not record time by any means, but at least it can be solved!

I've 3 cubes and a Rubiks magic, as well as several
metal and wooden puzzles in my office Cubicle just for fun!

I learned the first few layers of the Rubiks cube it was only
the last stage or layer/face that involved about 8 moves that baked my noodle and I never got around to learning. I could do it as a kid without learning any moves but as an adult I needed to look at instructions. (dont try and learn the cube and work at the same time)

There is a few websites that let you put in the colours
of a mixed cube and it spits out the notation for you to solve it.

I'm usless at actually doing puzzles but I have
a facination on How they are actually made and work,
and I appreciate the thought/craftmanship/artwork that goes
    into making one.

There is a fantastic webpage that I look at from
time to time that sells puzzles:
    http://www.puzzlemaster.ca/

Great place. People that may be intested in cube like puzzles may also want to check out live cube
    http://www.livecubeshop.com/

While not a rubiks cube it does let people order cubes and panels where they can actually make puzzles of their own design from scratch and re-use the pieces. Pretty cool idea and reminds me of the Unit Cubes used to teach us in Primary school!

I used to remove the little coloured squares and move them around to make it look like I solved it. This was in the early 80s when I was roughly seven or eight. My plan never worked because there were always enough crooked ones to reveal my tampering. ;)

I used to be able to do it in about 40-45 seconds. Wouldn't have a clue where to start now.

Which shops carry Rubik's cubes here in Dublin right now? I'm looking for the 2x2 and 4x4/Revenge. I only have the 3x3 from Smith's Toys in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, which also carries the Rubik's 360° and the Magic.

Was in Hamleys in Dundrum last week - where I bought a 3x3. They also had a cube with more squares, think it was 4x4 ???

You could break it apart and it fit back together in the right order easily enough. And nobody would be the wiser. ;)

Exactly what I used to do, right down to putting the squares back on crooked! :o

Bought one of these in Tesco a few years ago. Learned how to solve it using a guide but was then able to do it with no guide in about a minute. I think if I put it in my hands now, I'd get part of the way through it but would fall apart with the difficult moves!

As an answer to my own question - Hamley's at Dundrum Shopping Centre had Rubik's 3x3 cube, 4x4 Revenge, 360°, Magic and Light Speed. Sadly there was no 2x2 Pocket Cube, only some Earth ball that works like a 2x2. Art & Hobby also had 3x3.

I've learned to solve the 3x3 (Friggin' nice bar trick BTW - the girls like it) - sadly not all by myself, i had to memorize most of the algorithms. The 4x4 seems quite a challenge still, I hope I can figure it out. It's surprisingly flimsy in construction. No wonder they recommend you to handle it with care.
