Anyone from Boards have one of these? I know Zascar does, anyone else?

Thinking of getting one when I'm back on two feet, how reliable are they in the real world?

It'd be a 2000 or so model, 600cc for insurance reasons.

A clean example can be had in the UK for ~£2000, seems to be a decent price.

I bought my M900 over 2 years ago in London. I've owned newer bikes, but my 1995 M900 is the best I've ever owned. It's also been the most reliable. Not sure if that helps you or not? But if my 15 year old Monster is reliable, how bad could a 2000 reg bike be?

Here is a recent picture of my precious. It's just my personal opinion, but I think the older Monsters are the nicest.

That's exactly the type of Monster I'd be going for. Good to hear you've had no problems with it!

AFAIK electrics are the main problem with them - but they handle like a they're on rails...

True but better prices in the UK, as well as yearly MOTs.

Not so sure with current Stg rates etc. Yearly MOT's not as good as a proper inspection of an intended purchase - it's only a slip of paper.

Duc owner's here mind theirs as well, and, having bought a BeeEmm from policeman with a new MOT in the UK a few years ago, I can testify it's as useful as a chocolate teapot......would you helicoil brake caliper mount's ??

And, don't forget, most Duc's here came from the UK anyway......so potato/potatoe ....

    Example: Looks good value

Gone off the idea of getting a VStorm so!

I'd be trying to stretch for the 695 if possible, most if not all the 'lecy problems ironed out from the 620 at that stage

Ah the head is telling me to get something "sensible" like a Vstrom, the hooligan in me wants something that'll get the blood pumping though :D

I'd say a nice cbr600f would be in or around that budget

    that or an sv650

not sure you'd be that impressed by the power (and/or reliability :o) of a monster6 coming from a cb400

    :)

    The sound though :p

Considered a CBR but if I go for a sports bike it'll likely be an R6

SV1000... You know you want to :)

Aah no, the monsters are nice, but if it were me I'd be going for the 900 or s4r size.

    Its my dream bike...
Well not exactly my ultimate dream bike. But its the first bike I wanna get when I finally manage to afford to buy a bike.

I like to get the new 696 Monster. But they're fairly pricey.
Wouldn't mind an old 600 either...
