Trouble with Dell Inspiron 1525

Lads I'm having a bit of trouble with a cousins laptop. It was riddled with trojans so I just reinstalled Vista (64 bit). I'm now having trouble getting online. It doesn't seem to recognise the onboard network card, and I have tried downloading the 1525 driver download from dell but haven't had any luck. It still doesn't seem to recognise it (ethernet controller in device manager has a yellow asterix).

Any ideas? I'm at a bit of a loss at the minute.

In the installation did you choose to format the hard disk first? Or did you just install Windows 7 over the old installation? If you did the latter it is probably best to start from scratch & choose to do a clean install which includes wiping the hard disk first.

If you just installed the new Vista over the old one, this tends to happen.

You will need to wipe the hard drive first and re-boot the whole computer installing everything that was on it previously. If you can save everything on the computer that you need, cause no chance of getting it back.

It's possibly because the only drivers on the dell website for the Inspiron 1525 are 32 bit and you said you've installed Vista 64 bit.

You can find a 64bit driver at http://www.marvell.com/support.html I think if you choose 88e8000 from the list (the first entry) that will do, couldn't find one with xx in.

    Hope this helps.
