Anyone on here done this course ?
Got offered a place and recently am having second thoughts.
What areas have graduates got jobs ? if any ?
Was hoping it could get me a bit more oppertunities in facilities management.
    Come from a construction background.

I've just did yr 1 of this course. We've were told several times that there are jobs out there but neither I nor any of the people I spoke to on the course found many. (Those who are unemployed that is!)

Depending on your background, but I found alot of this course uninteresting at times, mainly because I'd covered it before. I've an engineering background and helped to give me some focus whilst I'm out of work.

However, it is a qualification at the end of the day. Be aware also, there is a decent time commitment involved, particularly in getting assignments completed.

Good luck with it if you do decide on it.

hows it goin Dubstar07. I recently got accepted into the course so i hav a few questions so as im prepared for the up coming year.
    1. Could you give me advice on what subjects 2 pick. i.e dont want to choose a subject where the lecturer is a very strict marker, and where one subject requires considerably more time than compared to a different subject.
    2. Advice on which lecturer to pick for helping me with my final year dissertation.
    3. Finally if we swapped emails could I contact you about borrowin your notes.

    Thanks a mil Dubstar07

    Hi Tom,

I did this part time so I didn't have a choice of subjects to pick. It may be different for full timers. In Yr 2 (part time) you get to choose 6 topics from 12 I think. But I'm only doing that myself now so not in the best position to advise.

I'm probably going to stay away from advanced energy systems (due to previous experience of the lecturer) and sustainable building design (ditto here plus I've heard the content too often). As for the rest of them its personal preference.

I'm at least a year away from dissertation stage and didn't know you picked a tutor. I only had 4 relevant lecturers last yr and out of them I'd say go for the Energy Conversion & Use lecturer. He's a little tough but fair.

I've ditched any hand written notes I have, too much clutter at home. You'll get the notes electronically so you can filter out what you don't need.

Hope this helps somewhat. Good luck with it!
