    What would be causing this?

Would the condition of the tyres cause this?

Could be a few different things. Is it constant or only at a certain speed, e.g. between 50-60mph? If so you need to get your wheels balanced (€30-€40). If it is occuring when braking only it it most likely warped brake discs.

It is there once you get going say above 30mph. The faster you go the worse it is.

I only got the front wheels balanced the other day which seems to have made matters worse.

Could be buckled wheels maybe - but then again when you were getting the wheels balanced surely they would have mentioned anything like this?

Try getting the wheels rebalanced by somebody else could be a problem with an damaged alloy which can be difficult to balance in which case you could swap the rim front to rear. Could also be in the tyre. But try a second opionion on a rebalance

I will do. Thanks for the help.

I am personally blaming the fact the the 2 front wheels have different thread levels.

Check the wheel bolts, make sure they're tight!

    Tread level shouldnt cause this.
Would get wheels rebalanced by someone else. Not fast fit or advance....
Could be buckled alloys. Few places will refurbish buckled alloys depending on where u r.
Place in Blessington if you up that way?

My car used to badly vibrate once I went above 80kph and at over 110kph it used to feel like the whole thing is going to fall apart.

I got the wheels balanced at Advanced pitstop and it made little difference. But then I took it to Dave Mccann tyres in Blanch to get new rear tyres, I got all the 4 wheels balanced as well. They did a proper job and now even at 140kmph it remans completely steady.

So just make sure you get the wheels balanced from a good place.

Also if the vibration is only when accelerating and if you press in the clutch, letting the car coast, the vibrations go away, it could be the wheel bearings which need to be replaced.
