Was thinking of getting this as a starter kit. There are no reviews of it as yet. I have done a good bit of looking into this and it seems like it is reasonably priced and a good start.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts are appreciated

Got this kit myself a couple of weeks ago, I'm very happy with the purchase. It's my first DE Razor and I've found it very easy to use. I've yet to cut myself with it, which I think is a good sign. I've been using the Derby Extra blade with it and I'm getting a nice close shave with minimal irritation. I'd say go for it, you won't look back. It's a strange feeling, I used to think of shaving as a chore now I actually enjoy it. Can't believe I went so long without one...

It is as good as you can get, but I would suggest you get the longer handle on the razor. I'm not sure it is essential but it gave me more confidence when I was handling mine.

There are two other things that I would not be without:
    • Proraso pre-shave cream, which you rub on your wet face before brushing on the soap, and
    • Trumper's "skin food", either Coral or West Indian Limes, to smooth on afterwards.

Forgot to mention I went for the longer handle version. I agree with you, defo get the proraso and the skin food. I use the proraso every day, shave or no shave. It gives me a great feeling in the morning and helps get rid of my morning groggyness.

    Cheers lads

Which proraso pre-shave cream do you recommend? There are a view different ones.

Think I am convinced to get this. I haven't cleaned shaved in ages due to the skin irritation that happens. So like a little hesitant in getting this, especially since its a good bit of money.
