Reseeded a 10 ac field in April . Was hopeing to to get some late silage bales from it at the end of summer . But not looking likley now. Can't put Sheep or Cattle on it to graze. Should I top it now a growth is stopping. With a view to making hay next year.

take a light cutting for bales in a few weeks.
do not top if it hasnt been grazed well by stock. as the cut material left on top will smother out the new grass.
    thats my reckoning anyways.
    when was it last grazed???

Sheep are the best to thicken up reseeded ground, cattle tend to pull up the grass and do a lot of poaching. The sheep will cut it down nice and bare with there teeth
