Apologies for another of these same types of threads but a short quick recommendation is all I am after.

I have been on a beginner set for 2 yrs and am now comfortably playing off 20, so its time to upgrade the irons (happy enough with a driver / rescue / lob wedge).

I went to Leopardstown McGuirks today but i didnt know there wasnt a swinging area!!

I want to go somewhere swing a couple, find something that feels ok and purchase...

best place in Dublin to do this ?

    Thanks Lads

Someone just told me Kinsealy Mcguirks have a driving range, and you IF they have demo's you can hit a few different clubs....?

    Anyone know anything on that?

And cheers for Greystones heads up - I would assume most decent pro shops do the same ?

There's a golf shop at the Spawell in Templeogue and as far as I know they will allow you to try clubs on the range. They may tape them up before you try them.

There is a range in Kinsealy and McGuirks have loads of trial clubs for you to use.

Ditto, best place in Dublin to try before you buy, helped me zero in on my clubs for sure, well worth a trip over.

Kinsealy is fine, but you're hitting off mats. Black Bush has a decent grass range for hitting irons and a decent selection of clubs on offer. I wouldn't buy from there though - tends to be pretty expensive.

Cheers guys - thats good enough for me! Heading out this afternoon, hopefully coming back with a shiny new set of irons...but with the wife joining me, it will more likely be a very sad face and a bitter knowledge my game is not going to improve until my birthday! :(

In BB you have to be accompanied to the range by shop staff, unless unless your a member there. This lends pressure to buy there.
Whereas Kinsealy has a much better range of clubs to select from and you can test clubs all day long by yourself, far less pressure to buy and as a result you can really take your time.

You can get properly fitted in Kinsealy as well. This costs €30 but is deducted if you buy a set of irons.

Fair enough. In my experience, leaving my car keys or credit card with the pro is good enough.

Even still, i wouldn't buy irons if i couldn't hit off grass while trying them out.
