How to i get rid of them?
I googled it but only found Tidy Up. Downloaded it but the trial only allows you to delete 10 of the duplicates found. It found 190.

Can anyone recommend a application to get rid of my duplicate photos in iphoto

What sort of duplicates are you talking about? Actual full photos or small copies?

When i go into iphoto i notice alot of the photos appear twice. Theyre duplicated. And the only way to delete them is manually which is very annoying. On my windows PC i can arrange photos by how they look (ie if a picture matches it will appear next to its match) so it made it much easier to delete the duplicates. However on iphoto i have to look at the picture, then find the duplicate amongst the hundreds of photos i have.

I downloaded tidy up and it found loads of duplicates but the trial version only allows you to delete 10. Im not forking out 20eur just to delete duplicate photos.

Odd that duplicates are showing up; perhaps an glitch importing them though initially I felt it was thumbnails you were finding. Also, make sure you are not looking at edited or modified pics in the viewer as well

Aside from that, have a look at Duplicate Annihilator; it should do the trick for less cash.

I had a huge problem with duplicates in some cases 3 to 4 copies of photos. Duplicate Anhilator costs a little over €8 to buy the full version. Seems to work for loads of people but didn't pick up one duplicate for me after many tries of tweaking the settings. Their customer support was helpful though. Theres an iphoto duplicate script that works in Script editor and its free (available from http://download2us.softpedia.com/dl/157057678e05161b2b5c53ecd44049ba/4c5d84aa/400071135/mac/Utilities/iphoto-remove-duplicates.zip )
It timed out when I selected more than 1000 photos at a time - a couple of hundred or smaller at a time worked grand worked grand. When the script has run you get a message saying " all duplicates have been marked duplicate." So you just type duplicate in the search box in iphoto and the duplicates will appear and can be deleted. Hope this helps

Sorted it out. Put all my photos on my external USB drive, copied them to my Windows PC and got windows to do it for Free

Then deleted all the photos on my mac and sync'd the photos from the USB hdd back onto my mac. Sometimes i wonder why i bought a bloody macbook.:(
