Played halo 3 online yesterday for the first time in months and when playing it split screen there was 2 thick black bars on either side of my widescreen tv. I dont remember seeing this before. Is there any way to change the splitscreen from 4:3 to 16:9 ?

Yeah, check the wide-screen settings in your 360 dashboard.

Nothing there to fix it :(

    You sure?
Are you playing singleplayer or coop?

What size screen you playing on?

AFIK When playing split screen halo 3 will display each screen in 16:9, so if the screen is wide you will get the black bars. - it does this so the picture wont be streched, which would make everything look quite wide...

Post a picture of whats happening to you...

It's a known issue to keep aspect ratio. It was in Halo 2 as well. If your 360 is set to widescreen you get the bars if it's set to 4:3 you don't get them.
