    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone uses this mixer?

I got an issue that I've isolated to the mixer itself. Basically when its connected to a simple sound system the left hand side is a lot louder that the right. The LED's on the master output do not reflect this. The difference is massive enough to be able to stand in front of one stack and not the other.

I've changed XLR's, used different audio leads and even had a the band play through the PA and they sound fine, so its not the PA.

The 2nd issue is that channels 3/4 do not cue to headphones any more and channel 3 sounds crap.

My feelings are the desk if fecked and its time to upgrade. Denon have yet to respond to my emails, over 3 weeks now.

Does anyone know somewhere in Ireland that looks at stuff like this?

    Any feedback would be great.

    Hi Bill,

I use these mixers week in week out at at my gigs and i haven't heard of the volume output problems you have been describing before. touch wood i never have to!!!

personally, i'm not a fan of these mixers - not rubbing it in but for most venue owners, they are cheep n cheerful.

as for the cue-ing up, i have had problems with the buttons for each channel. they don't stack up to the normal wear n tear and refuse to come on, so i just reassign the deck to another channel that does work.

on the channels that do work, what is the sound like when you use your headphones? are the levels the same for the left and right headphone speakers?

there is a small mono switch under where the inputs are - i think on the left. switch it to mono and that should balance itself out for now. obviously, adjust your eq's after doing this.

again, not being smartarsed, make sure your l-r balance is in the middle.

as for the faders, most give up the ghost if they have had the sh1t kicked out of them regularly, they look easy to change since each one is individually screwed in.

All else failing, i think there is a crowd in Trim called Fixtronics that specialize in Denon servicing.

No harm in trying Aqurious in Leixlip or Renyolds in Raphroe who i think are still main dealers for Denon.

Just remember that the cost for servicing could be high. parts could be cheap but labour isnt.

i had something like this when using pioneer many moons ago....cheap part, but pricey when getting the qualified person to put it in!

    Thanks for the reply.

As for what you mentioned, on the Denon Forums the problem with the outputs on the desk are numerous. Be it the cue's, masters, booth etc, people have had issues with all of them.

The Mono option I look at, but its does not solve the problem, It was the first thing I tried!! TBH It seem to do nothing at all. The L/R pot is in the middle so its not that and like i said the band use the rig so its not the PA, Amp's or power. When cued to headphones its fine also.

I'm a fan of the desk and I'm very happy but in my line of work a dodgy mixer is a no no. I've got a small back up but you would expect a mixer of that price to not have these issues. Its not abused and has a relative easy life and is well looked after.

Thanks for the names of the places to fix it but your right, its may be more cost effective too just replace it.

    Ah well.......

    No worries bill,

Forget about denon themselves emailing you back. anything to do with servicing / repairs etc they'll have a list of companies that do authorised repairs on their website

i did a quick check - AV imports on the naas road in dublin could do something as well. i have dealt with them before - they are also pioneer's official repair center in ireland, but like my previous post, they are not cheap for labour.

When i dealt with them a long time ago, it was around €70 labour plus parts plus vat per item i was bringing in.

just be careful that if you bring your mixer in, a repair shop doesnt charge you a fee for an estimate!

    Update:

Issue with master outs turned out to be a dodgy input on the Sub :-(

I with to Dave in Fixtronics http://www.fixtronix.ie/

He fixed the other issues and got the sub kind of sorted. Having major issues with RCF and in getting parts, nothing to do with Fixtronix's at all. Should all sorted when RCF get their arse in gear.

I must say Dave is a true pro. His communitcation alone would put other places to shame. That and he fixed it in the time scales argreed.

So if you DJ stuff is bust I'd highly recomend him. Fix's every type of desks.

    Well done Bill

Hope it wasn't an expensive job.

The cue buttons and the on/off switch for the mic's are starting to go on the mixer i use.....but no chance on the owner getting the gear serviced....

Like trying to get blood from a stone....

Over all the mixer fix and the sub fix only cost 130.

He does offer a call out service if needs be. Could be an option.

Issues like you saying can only get worse.
