i've started playing a good bit this year and i'm wondering about my driver/driving!!! Am i expecting too much but i only hit my driver 10 yards futher than my 3 wood. i'm also alot more consistant with the 3 wood. I've a wilson spine 10.5 degree driver stiff and a wilson spine reg 3 wood. i'm 250 with the wood and 260 with the driver.
i'm usually just use the 3 wood as its so much more consistant. should i have more of a gap between these clubs

The first year you play golf you shouldn't use your driver.

It's just some peoples logic to it, basically they think it's the hardest club in your bag to hit. Also it doesn't really give you an advantage because during your first year the most important thing us to just keep it in play.

To me that means, you should play the 3iron all the time. Practice the driver down the range.

As Seve once said, 'It's not how, but how many' ;)

If your 3 wood has a regular shaft so should your driver. Stiff is generally only suited to people with fast swings. if your only starting out in golf you probably don't have enough control in your swing to get the speed required for a stiff shafted driver.
