I forgot this was being made. So the they've managed to pump out another movie from these guys, this time in glorious 3D? Apparantley they filmed it with the same technology as Avatar so the 3D should actually be somewhat decent.

It looks loud and stupid. Which is why I'll probably still watch it anyways. :pac:

I guess they're all running out of money.

    Is Stevo dead or something?

I'll be going to see it anyway.

They do what they do well.
    Probably be better than Avatar.

On release here on the 15th November.

Awesome movies to see with a crowd, watching an audience of hundreds of people laugh till their faces are sore, cringe with every pain filled moment and balk at the disgusting stuff is always worth a trip to the cinema

I'll be going to see it.

Jackass is probably one of the only TV shows that has been successfully moved to film and lost none of its... eh... original integrity.

A lot of TV shows think they need to hollywoodize the show to make it ready for the big screen, when in reality all people really want is an extra long episode of the show, with the edges smoothened from a higher budget.

There are a lot of imitators out there but the Jackass guys' pranks really are some of the best. The high bit at the end is brilliant. As usual this will be great to see in the cinema, it's funny to see everyone in a crowd cringe at once :D

You know, I didn't think I'd like Jackass 2. But I was in absolute stitches watching it - it was a genuinely funny film. It's crude, mean spirited and offensive, which I would often use as criticisms. Yet during that taxi sketch at the end of the last film, I couldn't help but admire these lunatics for the sheer ballsiness and ingenuity of their pranks.

Yeah, most things the Jackass guys do rule. Except 2.5.

    should be great in 3d

Actually looks decent and they've come up with a few original ideas. Well, ok probably just variants of old ideas. I do realise the structure is the same: Do stupid sh*t, get hurt, laugh.

But I absolutely p*ssed myself laughing at the "high five" bit at the end!

Can't wait for this. Looks like another 90 minutes when you can turn off your brain and just laugh.

Jackass - dumb comedy done right.

It goes against everything I tend to like in cinema, but **** it, I'll be watching this over the weekend, and shall likely enjoy the heck out of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,077 ✭✭✭✭bnt

I saw my first 3D movie last weekend - SAW 3D - so I need something to give me some hope for the technology, and this could be just the ticket.

Have a look at some of the reviews cited by Metacritic: in a cultural / historical / cinematic sense, there's more going on here than just a bunch of guys hurting themselves. The Jackass crew seem to have tapped in to something more primeval, more ancient. In the first Olympics in ancient Greece, for example, all the competitors were men with no clothes. Me, I just like the Surrealist / Situationalist aspects: the creation of a Situation and the resulting denouement.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I'll wait for it to show on tv.

I think you wouldn't enjoy it half as much at home tbh, nothing to with 3D but having 100 people screamng and cringeing together in the cinema is deadly. Just my 0.02c though....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭Renn

Just back, quick comment is that it's pretty funny, like the other two, but probably better suited to tv episodes as it does drag a bit after a while. But it's a good bit of fun and the 3D is impressive enough.

So very true. There are some comedies that are slightly more intellectual (i.e. if they ever get around to making the Arrested Development movie) that are best enjoyed at home, but something as slapstick as Jackass is better enjoyed in a packed theatre imo.

I liked it more that I thought I would.

    Didn't feel like 3D tbh.

How one of these guys have not snapped their necks, I'll never know :p
Two scenes in particular, it was just the grace of God that kept the safe.

I was surprised how explicit it is with regards to male genitalia and .. eh ...

    Well, you'll see :D

seen this yesterday, felt alot shorter than an 1:45 minuntes,
supose time flies when your having fun

the 3d and slow mo certainly makes it alot more disgusting, the train scene and sweatsuit were partcularly disgusting
anyone else think steve o looked weird with normal lenght hair
    ?

This is the most fun you can have in a cinema seat IMHO. Pure nonsense but addictive in the classic Jackass sense, you go thru every emotion fear/shock/disgust/pity, it's all there.

    Mental!!!

Funny throughout, if not quite as good as Jackass 2 (it lacks an epic prank along the lines of the taxi driver one).

Things I learned from Jackass 3D:

    1. 3D has reached its natural artistic conclusion:
    fart bubbles
    .
    2. Rams are persistent bastards.
    3.
    Bungee surfing
    is win.
    4. Johnnie Knoxville is a lucky bastard.
    5. Contrary to popular belief, there are still worthwhile punchlines involving faeces.
    6. Spike Jonze is a legend for still being involved with these glorious idiots.

Meh. Thought it was good, but not as good as the previous two.

I laughed a lot when watching it last night.
Steve-o in the portaloo being catapulted into the air was pretty disgusting, yet hilarious at the very same time
