Hi, title basically says it all, I'm beginning my final year of an Arts degree in September, really interested in secondary teaching but would love a bit of first hand experience sooner rather than later, so I was just wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to whether I'm eligible to do a bit of subbing or TP at this stage of my degree? I've been told mixed answers when asking people I know so any concrete information would be great! Thanks!

I had a girl in the final year of her degree do some observation this year. She contacted the principal and he took her in and introduced her to the Irish Dept. in our school. She observed for 2 weeks and she did some TP with a first year group.

Hope this somewhat answers your question. :)

Thanks so much gaeilgebeo, sounds just like what I'm looking to do, must start chatting to a few local principals and hopefully I'll have some luck. Thanks again :)

No problem at all. Just explain to the principal what exactly it is you want to do. also, don't be afraid to as the teachers in your subject loads of questions about the subject/courses etc...
    Best of luck :)
