Dunlop Purofort Plus

    Hello all,

My second, or is it my third, pair of muckboots (which I love) have suffered the same fate as the last pair. Namely, they have cracked in the upper just above the rind and the reinforcing strip at the Achilles has come away a bit, which I think may be leaking. Either way, they're holed under the waterline! A fatal happening for any boot.

So, after much searching and agonising I finally decided to take a punt on a pair of Dunlop Purofort Plus.

Seeing as I've only got them today and had them out about the farm for half an hour I can only give initial impressions, compared to the MB. They're an inch and a half or so lower than the MB. IMO they need a cushioned insole as they're hard compared to the MB (I just took the insoles out of my MB :D ). I found on uneven ground my foot would slip around the inside of the boot (wearing two socks), like a wellie and unlike a boot, which didn't happen nearly as much as the MB, so IMO they don't offer as much ankle support/protection.

One thing I plainly don't like, the tops of the boot tend to flap around my calves and make a bit of noise.

The sole seems to have decent grip. They're warm, but it is August!

So far I'm happy, hopefully this side of Christmas I'll still be feeling the same about them! Will report on them again if I remember!

    ATB,

    John

Have you decided on a handbag to go with them yet?

I have had a pair of these for a couple of years now, I have managed to hole the toe area on the right boot. Not sure how.
They are good and quite light, the leg opening is wider than the earlier versions which is good for me, my calves were uncomfortably tight in the earlier models.
Sole is grippy but tends to clog up.

Must've got a prod or rub of something sharp CJ, decking on a sheep trailer got my first pair of MB, clipped the boot ever so slightly and it shredded it!

The grip I'll need to test out some more, they'll get plenty of work once lamping time sets in ;)
