I wonder could anyone recommend a good solicitor to deal with a new booking website and the legalities behind it..??
We are a start up company with limited cash, and need to get the website up and running to start generating income, so we need a good solicitor at a resonable rate.
Any advice would be gratefully accepted...

    Elaine

I was at the Dublin Web summit back a few months ago. i met a guy from Maples, new solicitors (a few hard hitters defected from some of the big 4 to join them). They are really keen on the web space and have represented loads of web companies - they were a sponsor of the summit.

Outside that, i dont know individuals or costs etc.

    Its just a suggestion,

    C

I think if you check out bizcamp there are also another firm keen on this sector who will give a free first consultation.

Thanks for your suggestions I will check out Maples and bizcamp. I really just need a starting point. It is hard to get a good solicitor at a reasonable cost, I have had some outrageous prices. Thanks again for your help.

I made this mistake when I started up first, I got into paying solicitors stupid money to advise me on what really turned out to be the blinding obvious! Now I'd ask myself why I felt like I needed a solicitor to begin with and I'd give you the same advice, if it's stuff like Terms & Conditions, warranties, etc, etc, there is literally tonnes of stuff online that can be copied and pasted and modified/tailored to suit your business model.

I'm launching a web business in the very near future and there won't be any money for solicitors, etc. The Terms & Conditions were all copied from the internet, pulled apart and put back together again over a few breakfasts!

Actually even though I did recommend here - i also did what MrDarcy did with the t+c's and the data protection bits etc.

Thanks MrDarcy. I did up t&c's, privacy etc from other websites, however I just assumed that I would need to have a solicitor look at these before I would put them out there, to make sure I have not forgotten anything. Do you think it is safe enough to put these up without having a solicitor look at same..?? I have info from the big websites that would have money to spend on solicitors so I would automatically think that they would have all angles covered. I am thinking out aloud here now, I suppose I could start and then when I have some money made...... get someone legal to look at same.
Thanks for all the advice it helps when you are about to take that big leap off the cliff....:)

    Hi Elaine,

I would be talking to online entrepreneurs, people whom own and currenntly run small successfull online businesses in Ireland.

Can I ask you what is the nature of your online business? Sure you will have to have a solicitor look over your terms and conditions, but does that solicitor really need to be a specialist in online? If your business is a simple online shop then there is no reason why a commercial solicitor should cannot have a look at the terms and c's. Its only when you have a site like boards where you would need an online specialist. As far as i am concerned a website is a shop but one which is viewed through a differnt medium.

Thanks, it is a booking website, so I am the middle man between clients and businesses. I have torn apart t&c from other similar businesses online and put my own together. I have as much done as I think, I can do and now I just need to get a solicitor to look at same. They really will only have to proof read it, I hope, and therefore hopefully wont cost an arm and a leg. Thanks for your help. es

Has Anybody set up a company recently ? I have a quote of about €700 from a company in Wexford. There are online companies, that will do for about €350. I am I better off myself to do, or is €350 a resonable amount to be charged to outsource it ?
Any advice offered would be good. thanks. es

What is a booking website?..a holiday booking website?...like hotels.com...? It will be costly but it really is necessary, fair play for recognising the importance of the small print.
