Tearing my hair out - London Hotels

Hi all

Am getting to the stage where I'm tearing my hair out- been trawling the internet for 2 days trying to find a weekend's accomodation in London for myself and husband and parents in September. OMG London is so expensive!!

We're looking for somewhere within easy reach of the theatre district, and are hoping not to pay more than about 120 per room per night. I don't mind if its a little out of the city once we're in a nice discrict and within 5 or 10 mins from the tube.

I've done a search here already and haven't found anything which is decent and within our price range.

Can anyone please help me find something which doesn't have miserable reviews

Can recommend this hotel, Best Western The Cromwell

friends visiting me stayed here recently.
Rooms have been recently refurbished. Nothing too fancy but deff not a poxxy hotel that so many unlucky tourist end up staying at in London.

Hotel is just by Gloucester Road tube station,
Quick cab ride or a 45min walk to Piccadilly circus.

checked weekend rates for September, £136 pounds a night.

Tons of hotels around Kings Cross station, not too far out of the city..

Try the Arosfa or the Arran house hotels, they are both in Gower Street ( which is off Tottenham Court Road) and are literally a 2 minute walk from Goodge Street tube station. I've stayed in both and they are fantastic value, around £60 a night for a single room and around £80 - £90 for a double. They both have websites.

Close to pubs and restaurants and Hyde Park. Tube station couple of mins. walk.

For cheap rooms in very nice hotels Canary Wharf is great because they do special weekend rates as the place empties out when business travellers go home. The Mariott is a very nice hotel right beside the DLR or a short walk to the tube. If you fly in and out of London City it makes the whole weekend very pleasant.

Travelodge have a couple of hotels around kings cross that would be handheld for Liverpool st if you are flying to stansted and easy for the west end.

Stayed here when i went to London, right next door to a tube station. Took us about 15 mins to get to the theatre district. Its around £100 a night.

I went over there two weeks ago and was looking for somewhere nice but reasonable.

Lastminute.com do a top secret hotel, with a rough description of the area and the facilities.

I ended up paying 177 euro, room only, for a top secret hotel, opposite canary wharf.

It was the Hilton Docklands. A bit out of the way, but very manageable, even with the jubilee line off.

Hi there, thanks a million everyone for your recommentations!

We finally booked this place for the 2 nights, got a great deal for a room including breakfast for 104 sterling through www.hotelclicks.com - the hotel got great reviews too and seems to be in a great location.

I've stayed a couple of times in the St Giles Hotel, junction of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road. Basic hotel but the location is excellent, 1 min to Tottenham Court Rd tube
