Bike for a beginner

Hey. Competed in my first duathlon last Wednesday and really enjoyed it - thinking of doing the Clon duathlon in September.

Am thinking of buying a road bike (my gentleman's town and country bicycle that I used this week was hewn from a solid piece of steel!) and was wondering if anyone could recommend a style, make or good place to buy

I don't want to spend a fortune but, then again, don't want to buy something so cheap that it breaks every other day. I'll probably also ride it to work so it's not just for racing.

    Thanks a mill - SB

    Is that enough?

    Hi Scottyboy

Best bet for you would probably be a second hand road bike.
If you do a search in the cycling forum you'll find a shedload of info on starter bikes.

Best of luck with the duathlons.

Do you have an option to use the bike to work scheme?
