I would guess it would be a bit lower than that, probably around 2500

Im just basing that figure on Carzone, who seem to be ranging from 2k to 5k for 01 1.4 Golf. That and I think my friend got something like €2k for a 99 Golf not so long ago (GTi styling but not a GTi if that makes sense).

Yeah true. Good points are obviously the low mileage and the new clutch. But realistically, it is a slow, heavy 9 year old 1.4 car, and with the way that car prices are at the moment, getting a decent price for it will be tough!

I think €2500 is about right. Being the base 1.4 litre model your talking no electric windows, etc which is a disadvantage these days.

i got 2500 today for my mk4 (78,000) rs6 alloys, sony bluetooth radio,

and that was from a dealer

take a good few pics of it made, make sure its clean and fire it on donedeal
    for 3200/3400

if its as good as you say you'll get tonnes of enquires, just stick to a bottom end price and go with it

Still can't get over it €3K for a 01 Golf? I'd be looking in around that for my 03 Focus! VW's are still stupidly priced in this country.
