Hi I posted a while back asking about Automatic Focus's and if they were any good and the general consensus was not very fuel efficient so ....

I'm looking for a min. 1.4L Automatic car with 4 or 5 doors, good boot space, relatively fuel efficient (for an auto), around the 05/06/07 age I'd think.

Anyone recommend some good reliable models?

Also, if I went for a diesel - say 2.0L - is the car tax high on the diesels?

just saw a couple 1.6 Megane saloons 06 - what ye reckon?

Road tax for petrol or diesel 2l is the same for cars around 05/06/07 age .. 1901-2000cc is 614euro but higher than 2l (2001-2100cc) is 784 euro per year.

Just a note on the diesel automatic front - I was looking for one earlier in the year and they are quite difficult to find unless you're looking for the likes of an audi a4 etc

I can say that the Kia Cee'd Automatic (1.6 l petrol) is a lovely car to drive, reliable and is relatively fuel efficient.

    Ford Focus:

I woud avoid that model Megane to be honest, terrible electrical problems experienced with them. It's hit and miss with them, you might get a good one but there is a good chance you will get a lemon too.

Auto shoppers can't be very picky I'm afraid.

Most auto petrol’s wouldn’t be very fuel efficient tbh , the Focus is not an exception.

What about Corolla's? I drove one before as a rental and it seemed fine. (In australia in 06, not sure if it would have been a very different make-up there)
