I am about to dismantle my basic setup 'cos we're installing a conservatory and the tv/dvd/sky stuff is in the way.

I am looking to minimise the space needed to re-setup.

I am considering a flat screen with a dvd reader as basic 'viewing' platform. I presently have a an ancient VCR/player and I have some equally ancient videos, not many of which, if any, are worth converting so I am looking for a convenient modern recording device. While I'm at it a combo satellite/DTT setup looks like a good idea as I am able to receive the test outputs here in West Cork from Mullaganish/maybe Mount Gabriel relay? on a uhf aerial. I have a dish pointing at 28E and a Sky FTA box which had a card but doesn't seem to need one any more.

I have a flat screen on the bedroom wall which is paralleled on the uhf and relayed from the Sky FTA box.

Last item, I have a camera in a birdbox... has a SCART output, which also needs to be in the setup!!

    Ideas?

Maybe a LG or Sony IDTV with integrated Freesat and MPEG4 DVB-T would be the way to go. No STB needed in living room at all. Split aerial input between TV and bedroom for terrestrial
reception. Install quad lnb on dish and put sky box in bedroom and feed via scart for better picture and sound.

Oops , left out the DVD player. Not sure if you will get an IDTV with built in DVD player. Most tv's I have seen with an integrated DVD have been frankly crap; and I see a hell of a lot of TVs! One of the small samsung DVD players might do the job nicely.
