serial port emulator

I'm using software that will only communicate to a peripheral device via Serial Port. I'm looking for software/driver that will allow me to connect the device via USB and emulate it as if it's connect via a Serial Port. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Software could be tricky if it doesnt autodetect over usb.

no serial port on the laptop. I've found contact details for the company that supply the software, hopefully that can get me sorted.
