but the argos one uses 16 times the electricity of the 4homes unit. Also ones similar to the argos one can be had for under €10 in many stores.

Thanks for taking the time to post this - Please don't be insulted by the below genuine question!!!!
    1 x 24W low energy lamp

That a Green Party approved energy saving Bulb?

    - Can it be assumed that it takes 10 minutes to reach full brightness and even then a small flickering candle would be brighter?

The light is bright enough from the moment it is triggered. It provides enough light for the average driveway. Nowhere near as bright as a halogen, but fine for most people I would imagine.

I'm pretty sure a 24w CFL is approved and should be easily replaceable in the future.

Woodies and atlantic homecare have the 2 x 24w version for €34.99

Yeah - I've seen the woodies/atlantic version - anyone know of anyone around Dublin/Kildare selling the NIGHTBRITE one from the OP - I don't think they justify the trip to Cork!

I installed one of these yokes and the light is great quality. However, the 'courtesy LEDs' flash on and off all night. I wish they would either stay on or stay off, instead they flash on and off in 5 sec intervals.

Stick a small square of black electrical/insulating tape over the LED?

The courtesy lights on mine come on at dusk, and don't flash at all. Are there any other lights nearby that could be triggering the dawn/dusk sensor?

Thanks for the replies, it turns out it has something to do with the 'lux' setting. I think I have it sorted.

Yeh I have the double one from Atlantic too...they're not the brightest but the LED courtesy light is kool

Definitely recommend over the traditional halogen versions

Oh and the bulb is as bright as it gets nearly instantly

How good/bright are the Atlantic courtesy LED aspect of these lights? Will it affect the area when 2.5m above the ground, or can they be switched off?

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Had intended to buy this light in Woodies last weekend. However when I saw it, it just looked way oversized. Put me right off. Personally I wouldn't even pick it up if it was a tenner!

    IMHO ;)

Called up to woodies and got a ROK 24watt floodlight in silver and looks exactly like the tesco one posted above. With the 20% it cost €25 which is good :)
