With 3 kids, 2 in child seats, there is very little space left in back seat of nissan primera for 12 year old to sit comfortably. I've being advised to trade up for a 7 seater but i am wondering is there any 5 seater cars out there with wider back seats? Or what is the best 7 seater on the used car market?

    Try a six seater
    ugly but brilliant

    or the other six seater
slightly less ugly, but a lot more expensive

Never thought of a 6 seater. Are they comfortable to drive with 3 people in the front?

Probably as comfortable as being in the back with 2 kids in car seats :)

The only five seater car with hugh space in the back would be a large 4x4....

But tax/ VRT will take that out as a possible option...

depending on the money you want to spend really.

the best 7 seaters from 2006-2010 are the Ford S-Max and Ford Galaxy but can be pricey , they are favourites for a lot of car journalists and i owned one too . They driving position is great , excellent to drive , huge is side and very reliable .

I also owned an old type Galaxy which a used as a taxi . If your looking for a 7 seaters from late 90s to about 2006 then the VW Sharan , Seat Alhambra and Ford Galaxy are all the same cars , same engines just small things like bumpers and light etc are changed , you cant beat them .

Stay away from the Fiat Mulitipla they are awful , ugly and unreliable
Honda isnt bad but wouldnt buy one .

VW Touran and Seat Altea XL arent as big as the Galaxy and co but offer 7 seats . Renault Grand Scenic also has 7 seats but dont know about about reliablity but the two extra seats are very smalls and really only for young children .

Buy a diesel version of all these ,
    Galaxy 2006-2010 - 1.8 Tcdi and 2.0 Tdci
    S-Max 2006-2010 - 1.8 Tdci and 2.0 Tdci
Old Galaxy,Sharan and Alhambra - best engine 1.9 Tdi
    Touran,Altea XL - 1.9 Tdi and 2.0 Tdi
    Scenic - 1.5 Dci and 1.9 Dci ( I Think )

Avoid early models of VW and Seat DSG gearboxs
    Avoid Automatic Fords

    Hope this is a help

Have a look around for Honda Stream or maybe a Toyota Estima aka Previa.

They can be quite expensive on petrol and tax.
