Ive been in the market for awhile for an xbox and came across an xbox super elite for €200 on Gumtree.ie with an adaptor, mw2, 250gb harddrive, 1yr xbl, 1 wireless controller and all cables, so i texted the guy and he accepted my offer of €150 for the lot straight away and he arranged to meet me in a local shopping center to make the exchange! i then asked if he could supply a reciept as he said he only got it a few months ago but he said he couldnt find it! im just affraid that the console will not work and that would be 150 euro down the drain :( you think i should risk it for such a great deal?

That sounds too good to be true, so there for it is. Only buy this if you can check it works, meet in either his house, your hose, or somewhere you can check it out.

Other than that, you might as well give me the €150. I'll be honest, and tell you you're getting nothing for it.

If he's a scammer, then he'll refuse to meet anywhere you can test it.

I'm not sure what exactly the scam is here, but there is a definite scam. Could be the old "milk cartons in a laptop bag trick", or some variant. He shows you the box with all the kit inside, you get the cash ready then he hands over a box that feels right. You get home and discover it's got bricks inside, he's swapped the box when you were busy counting cash.

There's no way that's genuine anyway. Walk away now.

its possible that its a banned xbox, microsoft will ban the console from been used on line if they detected that it has been used to play pirated games.
so if you cant see it working on line, then stay away

Try your local gamestop/game store im sure you could pick up a 2nd hand elite for around the 150-200 mark and you would be garunteed for 12 months. You could prob get an older xbox360 for even less.

xbox's have a fault where some of them overheat after 20 minutes or so, this could be one of them. It will work perfectly but the red rings will come up fairly soon, but usually long enough after you have tested it for you to think it is ok

another possible scam is the old hard drive switcharoo, where he's taken out the 250gb one and put in an old 20gb/60gb one

It could also be genuine. I got an almost brand new elite with the wifi-n adaptor and Bad Company 2, as well as 1 years live gold, for E100 on adverts. Great bargain. A lot of people are desperate to sell for either the new model or switching to a PS3 in most cases.
