Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice. Looking at a 98 Maxda mx3 1.6 for my girlfriend (Irish car) NCT until 04/12 and a few months tax, 119k miles done and seems in pretty good order. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these? Is there anything in particular i should look out for? Money seems reasonable enough @ 900 euro. Is it hard to get parts for these without going through main dealer? Any advice appreciated.
Reason she is going for the 1.6 is insurance otherwise would have gone for the v6 1.8

Long time since I was selling the jap imports but the one thing I remember about them was C.V joints. They rattle like hell and are impossible to replace. You'll end up buying a second hand drive shaft instead of a new C.V. Engines are bomb proof though.

That engine will last forever if looked after and a lot of used Irish cars have been neglected.
Check out about insurance first, insurance companies sometimes baulk at older cars.
Parts should be no problem as engine parts between Mazdas are usually interchangeable.
The engine could be the same as in the MX5 and they have DOHC, 16 valve, electronic ignition, fuel injection and they are very nice and quick.
