Upgrade existing bike or new rig?

Coming more from the ahem, triathlon side of things (ducks for cover), but looking for a steer on whether it is better to use the cycle-to-work bonus to upgrade an existing rig, or a new steed.
Current spec below and looking to improve my set up for longer distance tri activity.
Would stretch to ~€2.5K or so for a new set up, but would limit the upgrade of the current bike to ~€1K.

Currently on a Trek Equinox 7:
    Frame Alpha White Aluminum (56cm)
Fork Bontrager Race Lite TT, carbon
    Wheels Wheels Bontrager Select Aero
    Tires Bontrager Race Lite, 700x23c
Drivetrain Shifters Shimano Dura-Ace, bar end control, 10 speed
    Front Derailleur Shimano 105
    Rear Derailleur Shimano 105
    Crank Bontrager Race 53/39
    Cassette Shimano 105 12-27, 10 speed
    Pedals Look Keo
    Saddle Bontrager Race Lite TT
Seat Post Bontrager Race Lite TTX
Handlebars Bontrager Race Bullhorn w/Profile Aerolite clip-ons
Stem Bontrager Race X Lite, 7 degree, 31.8mm
Headset Cane Creek IS-2 Integrated w/cartridge bearings, sealed, alloy
Brakeset Cane Creek 3 w/BL2000K levers

What's wrong with that bike? It looks fine.

Bike fit, pointy hat, power meter, coaching, aero wheels, wind tunnel time.

    That's a few grand's worth. :)

    Cheers Lumen,

You are assuming a rational thought process.

I thought the triathlete bit would have clarified that for you...:)

For irrational, buy this. It's won races, therefore must be lucky. And it has an Ultegra drivetrain.
