    Sounds like an iClone.

It's kind of unfair that everyone thinks almost anything bought in China is a fake. But yeah, it probably is :)

apparently HK is the cheapest place to buy an unlocked iPhone.

I have my finger poised over the 'Buy it Now' button on this for the last couple of days, no 3g but any other reason why I shouldn't buy it?

    EDIT: I know its a fake :-)

Hong Kong is the cheapest place to buy an unlocked iPhone. Anything from China is probably a fake, because the real iPhone is extremely expensive in China (think it's $700 with a 24 month contract!!!)

At least with the Iphone 3GS there was differences in the Chinese release, like no wifi and others I can't remember. I'm sure there's plenty of fake ones as well like the link posted previously :D

This only applied to phones sold in mainland China, not to phones sold in Hong Kong. If you buy an iPhone 3GS (or indeed an iPhone 4), you will get WiFi.

Not really related, but the iPhone 3GS will go on sale in mainland China shortly with WiFi included, as the laws regarding WiFi have been loosened.

Bear in mind that in addition to the fakes, china also manufacturers most of the legit products we buy as well so you can also get real bargains there.

Seems really expensive. I would have thought thirty or forty euros max.

I'm curious about how they work as a phone though. When it says "quad band" are those bands actually usable I wonder?

One of the biggest plus points of the iPhone is the App Store. Why buy a fake when it won't have that? You'd be better off buying a different legit phone, perhaps a cheaper Android phone, if you don't want to pay for an iPhone.

Well its my friends cousin who is coming back from there and its going to cost me 250. He said I can give it a run for a week and see how it is!

Itd be pretty easy spot a fake wouldnt it?

Talking to him again there....apparently its a "Hiphone" and not an "iphone". Anyone know anything about these? If it doesnt have the app store I dont think ill bother. :(

    0.3 megapixel camera?

Only genuine apple products will have access to the app store!

Don't settle for second best, if you're willing to shell out 250 for a faker, you'd get a 3GS for a little more! Go for the real deal!

It also says it has a Radio....Iphone doesnt have a radio (well not activiated anyway)

and it doesnt seem to have built in Memory, Only an SD card...Real iphones dont do SD cards for memory

    My 2 cent

I really wonder why people buy these types of phones.

They have none of the functionality of real iPhones, they can't use the app store and you can't use them with iTunes.

So what exactly is the allure? To pretend you have an iPhone?

    I don't get it.

Back to the 80's/90's when people used to pretend to have conversations on mobile bricks to show off :D

These phones are mainly knock off made in Shenzhen. The hiphone and the others won't let you access or add any apps. A lot are dual sim but only 2G. I go there a bit and picked up an iPhone nano - a clone that was about half the size of the iPhone. It worked in china and hong kong but wouldn't work in Europe. Turns out the imei code was cloned. If you buy the chances are it will end up as an mp3 player.

120 euro is a lot for that phone. You can get better phone here for that money.

Only thing that phone has going for itself is look at first glance. Then you will notice its not "gorilla" glass screen ,screen resolution is very low. Memory is low and storage space is not there unless you get sd card. No access to App Store (this is not a big deal really - not the same system anyway ) , only 0.3 Mega pixel camera, no GPS, no option to have video out, no docking station , if you are lucky it would be running on Windows Mobile 6.5, short battery life , i can go on...

Good parts is it looks nice and has FM radio.

If you want an Apple iPhone then get one. The Hiphone can be bought online for 50 bucks in some places. I wouldn't pay 250 for a week's trial of anything.

I think you'll probably be laughed out of it if you produce it in the company of real iPhone users.

It's not an Apple Media Device.

How do you know if one of your friends gets an iphone? They'll tell you.....Badum----Tish!I got one of the 3GS iclones, it's in as new condition if anyone wants to punt €50 for it. I went back to my Nokia 6310. I can't seem to let go of that old workhorse. The dual sim is pretty cool, camera is gack, but all else seems to be pretty cool. Would recommend for business use rather than carrying two phones. My 2c

Their built in china because it's very cheap
Labour. Why pay u to do it when they will for almost zero...

Those knock off replica phones are aimed
At those who probably cannot afford a real one. Just an image thing.

Its not just Apple devices that are faked in China, everyone smartphone is faked as soon as its out and sometimes even before release date. Nokia - Nokla, HTC, Ipad, Dell Streak.. hell even white "Iphone 4" is already out in Shenzhen.
