If you have Gta San Andreas (version 1.00)
Then google search for SAMP

if you have Version 2.00 of GTA San Andreas
Google for the "Gta Downgrade Patch"

1.00 Must be used to play SAMP

what is this mod? can you play on the whole map with a load of other people like gta 4 freeroam? if so how many people can play?

Not sure what the actual limit is but there is plenty of 500 player servers.

Yep. There is also a lot of customisation of the game on different servers. Most have races, death matches, cops and robbers etc. There is also a lot of stunt worlds with extra things added on like giant ramps and roads in the sky. It's definitely worth getting.

There are some pretty professional servers out there with several 100 people in the world at any time. And it's also very good "modded" with RPG mods, where people actually have their own house where they live in, their "real" jobs that they carry out.

For example, my car was on fire, and then suddenly another guy who's job was being a fire fighter showed up and put out the fire.
Well, my car exploded anyways, but still fun to see some real other players being fire fighters.
