By law every network has to offer 7 day cooling off for contracts.

I think it's 7 days if you bought it in a shop, 14 days if you bought it online. Can someone confirm this?

It appears that it depends on what you agree to at a particular time. Distance selling (online / over the phone) appears to have 30 days cool down period.

Three have a general 14-Day Money Back Guarantee, which is what they generally adhere to in the shops but again you must make sure you got this when you signed up. http://three.ie/pdf/SmallPrint.pdf (page 13).

thanks, yes i got that booklet, page 13 seems to imply you can only make a return if you suffered verifiable network issues, and looking at their coverage map now, it shows they dont provide data transfers on a less then 3g connections

the fact i didnt know this when signing up seems to me now, wont be enough to let me out of contract ?? its been 6 days

Good luck mate because you have to ring 3 tech dept first to confirm there is bad coverage before they will return it , expect to be onto them for aout 5 hours before you get sorted to return it.. A shower of apes you'll be dealing with they havent a flaming clue.

thinking about it all night, and i've come to the conclusion I should be able terminate contract, if its in the 7 days, and without having to rely on something wrong on their side, as the booklet implies

cooling of period, i'm thinking is differnt to their return's policy,
if the law states you have 7 days cooling off period, i assume you can return no matter what the conditions of service are, ie you've had your 7 days to see if your happy or not, before you take the big 18 month contract, it would be crazy to have no way out if you weren't happy with the service,
ill try later and report back !

if your phone doesnt do as advertised (ie. offer a high quality device on a high quality network) then you can get your money back whenever you want to. This especially relates to products as you can show them why it doesn't work. Its your right under the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act.
